Apps Uncovered 21 October 2011

Every Friday, a weekly selection of images is chosen to reflect the extraordinary creativity being produced on iPhones, iTouches and iPads. This gallery aims to inspire and be a learning resource where we share the processes we use to create our images. To qualify for this group you must share the apps you use to create your amazing images. Please include them either in your Flickr description or the tags.

Many thanks to all of you who have shared your work and processing work flows.

...the Shadow knows

Title …the Shadow knows

Description: He walked in. Ordered his coffee. And moved to the opposite end of the counter to wait for it. He kept up a banter with one of the baristas. I was a few feet away from him and watched his every move. Or should I say - watched his shadow's every move…

Artist Patricia L. Walker

Device/Apps used Camera+ for the picture initially and then also for crop and initial enhancement. Then I used ScratchCam. I used Impression to add the signature. (The original image is truly an interesting piece but dull in tones.)

Title may I have this dance?

Artist Jennifer Ford

Device/Apps used iPhone 4 + BlurFX + ScratchCam + Iris Photo Suite + Noir

More information about the processing of this image: I took this shot while trying to clam my infant son during his fussy time in the evening. We were dancing in the kitchen and I wanted to try and capture the movement and the intimacy of the moment. I first took the image to BlurFX so that I could pull the two of us out a little from the distracting background. I then went to Noir (one of may favorite b&w apps) to convert the image to a contrasty b&w image and to further darken the distractions in the background while highlighting the figures in the foreground. I used the red filter in Iris Photo Suite, and then hopped over to ScratchCam to give the image a grainy film-like quality.
